CHAM’s library – FCSH/NOVA


The CHAM’s library gathers over 14.000 volumes on subjects of Global History, particularly on the Discoveries and the Portuguese Expansion. In addition to specific studies on these issues and academic journals, from Portugal and abroad, the library features classics of the ships and voyages as well as sources on history of portuguese expansion, cultural history of India and religious history of the East. Other significant subjects are philosophy, law and politics, culture and literature, as well as a set of volumes dealing with history of the book, reading, writing and publishing. It also has an important documental collection about the history of the European context of the 16th century, Brazilian history and slavery.
